Congratulations to Annette Hedrick, PCNA (patient care nurse assistant) in Mercy Hospital's Medical Oncology nursing unit, for receiving our hospital's most recent Emerald Award. Annette was nominated by a fellow caregiver who commended her for showing empathy, kindness and compassion to her patients and their families and for providing comfort to her hospice patients. The nomination further praises Annette for volunteering to support our local homeless community and for serving as a model PCNA while training new nurse assistants with resourcefulness, confidence and honesty. Annette is truly, "dedicated to her profession, and seeks better ways to improve patient care in our unit." Cleveland Clinic's Emerald Award program celebrates nursing care gems on a quarterly basis. It was developed to recognize the dedication and professionalism of nursing support caregivers who exhibit empathy, respect, excellence, accountability, leadership, dedication and serve as role models.
