MSE x Friends of Fort Dupont x Clark Construction = A Great Team 🤝
MSE, MSEF, the Capitals, Clark Construction, and Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena came together this season to make the Canal Park Ice Rink a reality in Washington, DC. ⛸️ Thank you to Monumental Sports & Entertainment and MSEF for inviting us to join you in this mission, and bring some frosty fun to our community this winter! #ClarkBuildsDC#DistrictOfPlay
We're out at Canal Park ice rink, will future ice rink. We are here with Clark Construction and Fort DuPont Ice Arena. Fort DuPont runs this rank during the winter time. We have our Kids on ice program which is the flagship program of Friends of Fort DuPont Ice Arena. Through Kids on Ice. We offer free school field trips and that is the school skate for fitness program. We have an after school club. We do enrichment activities with everything. From learn to Skate for preschoolers all the way up through introductory programs and figure skating, synchronized skating and hockey. Being here, we can pull in kids from all over DC and they can come in regardless of background income. We make it available and affordable. Fort DuPont came to us this summer and mentioned that they were having a hard time finding a contractor to actually assemble the rank and put it together. And so Clark Construction is one of our great partners. And we thought, why don't we see if they're available, see if this might be something they'd want to work on. And they were thrilled to be a part of it. And so they're here today getting started. And soon it will be an ice rink. This is a very unique ice rink. It's in a Figure 8 shape that's to sort of evoke a feeling of the canals. In Poland, and it really just gives a very scenic, authentic kind of winter time activity. Generally, it takes about 5 days to get all of the physical pieces in place. They're assembling what we call the dasher boards. Those are going to make the outline of the rink. Glass walls will go in, put down the white sheeting, turn on the refrigeration units. It takes about three to four days once we have the refrigerators turned on to make. Layers of ice all and I'll probably be about a two week process. Mid November, the ice rink will be open. It'll be open to the public. We're really excited to have a Capitals player come out as part of our District of Play programming. He'll skate with kids from the Kids on Ice program. You know, this partnership with Monumental Sports in Fort DuPont ice rink really shows our shared commitment to giving back to the community. You know, we're excited to be here. We're excited to extend our partnership that we have with the current Rena into the communities in which we serve and which we work. And this is just one example of of us being able to do that. Weather. Giving back to the community is really important to Monumental, to the Capitals, to Clark Construction, and we're just really excited to be able to provide this ice rink that's used by the community and just making sure that we're doing our part to make the space in the city usable and a great and safe, fun space for kids and adults to come out to.
Yay!
