Good News for the Future of Civil Engineering in America. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the future of civil engineering in the U.S. is shaping up to be pretty exciting! Over the next decade, the field is expected to grow by 6%, adding about 23,600 new jobs by 2032. Much of the demand is driven by the need to repair aging infrastructure, like roads, bridges, and water systems, and the push towards renewable energy projects. Civil engineers can look forward to a median annual wage of $91,330, making it a lucrative career choice. Whether it's designing the next big skyscraper or improving our water supply, civil engineers will be in high demand! I encourage civil engineering firms to work with colleges and universities and even local high school guidance counselors to promote civil engineering as a career option to meet the existing and ongoing lack of talent in the marketplace. From my perspective, many engineering firms are currently struggling to fill open positions. What do you think it would take to fill the pipeline with new talent?
