This is why achieving lower speeds is a key part of the FHWA’s Safe System Approach. 🚨 Exciting News! 🚨The Space Coast TPO has been awarded a $4.9 million Rail Crossing Elimination Grant from the Federal Railroad Administration to enhance safety at seven highway-railroad grade crossings across Brevard County! 🚦🚉 This project, supported by Brevard County, the City of Cocoa, the City of Melbourne, and Brightline Trains, will: ✔️ Enhance seven highway-railroad grade crossings with 15 new exit gates and two medians ✔️ Reduce the loss of life, railway collisions, trespassing, and other safety violations ✔️ Minimize costly damage to public and private property from road/rail crashes and reduce traffic backups “At the SCTPO, safety is our top priority as we plan for tomorrow's transportation system.
