Beef continues its impressive growth despite higher prices. Despite an average price increase of 6.1% this past year, beef now accounts for 53.7% of meat dollar sales, up 1.5% from the year prior. I recently discussed trends in beef sales with Supermarket News Circana. Read “Beef: It’s Still What’s For Dinner” to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7Ej6_Te #MeatSales #ConsumerData

Where do you buy your beef? When you buy beef at the butcher / grocery store, you’re typically buying commodity beef from the big food supply chains. When you buy beef directly from the farmer / rancher, you typically will find better quality, more transparency, and a program that is better for the environment. Most impactful to the family farm is that whole value of the product goes to them vs 8 cents of every dollar spent at retail when they sell through the big food supply chains. Consider buying direct and finding a program you agree with, whether that is local to you or you order online for delivery. It is well worth the investment of your time to create a relationship with a producer to know what your family is actually eating.

**Price Alert** We are receiving reports from various meat suppliers that the beef market is under significant pressure, with prices steadily increasing since July 2024. The current cattle shortage is likely to lead to further price increases in the coming weeks and months. Now is the time to evaluate your menus and explore options to reduce your reliance on beef. Consider the following strategies: 1. Reduce steak portion sizes, such as from 250g to 8oz. 2. Add more cost-effective vegetables to casseroles and braised dishes. 3. Look for alternative cuts to help lower costs. With consumer confidence low and household budgets tightening, effective management of your supply chain is essential. Seeking expert advice can help you navigate the challenges ahead in 2025. #qprocure #hospitality #beefsupplies

Interesting comparison chart shared by Chick Fil A. The chart shows the inflation price raise of the top 3 fast food restaurants over the last 5 years. It would be intriguing to see how basic meat and milk products compare on the same chart. What do you think? #inflation #fastfood #foodprices #comparisonchart

It's generally recommended to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Let's look at a Side X Side basket comparison on comp items from Kroger v. Freshfruit.com Assume an order for fresh fruit delivered to a residence in metro Atlanta. ① Same baskets --> Similar items and unit counts ① Delivery has been selected. Delivery charges have not been calculated or factored in, but Kroger charges about $6.99 for delivery. Unsure what FreshFruit.com charges, but assume a similar $6.99. Estimated cost: Kroger --> $33 FreshFruit.com --> $77

Best meat sales in Winnipeg Aug. 1st-7th Best deal - Chicken Breast - Save On Foods - $4.38/lbs Great deal chicken is rarely cheaper. - Two good pork tenderloin sales - Superstore $4/lbs - Food Fare $4/lbs - Note food fare only lasts until Sunday as there flyer changes on Mondays Or tenderloin can be a little bit cheaper, but it’s still pretty good deal. - Salmon - Superstore - $13.99/lbs for Fresh Atlantic This is a good deal for fresh Atlantic and not farmed Seafood is always really expensive and salmon is hard to get cheaper these days. Make sure you take a look at the example video where I show you how a lot of different stores will try to show you a sale on seafood, but it will be per 100 gram per pound. So you will really want to try to use the pricing calculator! If you want a copy of this DM me “Meat” and I’ll send it over!

French fries shouldn’t be a luxury item—but allegations of price-fixing by major potato producers show how consolidation in food markets hurts families and small businesses. From raising prices on frozen potato products by 47% to leveraging their dominance over 95% of the market, these companies are putting profits over people. As Groundwork Collaborative’s Executive Director, Lindsay A. Owens, PhD, said: “When there are only a handful of players in the market, collusion is too appetizing for these companies to pass up. Price fixers must be held accountable, but we must also work to make food markets more competitive.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gE5qkGhd
