Championing culinary excellence.   Huge congratulations to Max Faulkner, Cluster Head Chef for Chartwells Independent at Rugby School, for his incredible win yesterday - Gold Medal and Best in Class in The Duck Culinary Showdown at International Salon Culinaire. Held alongside HRC, International Salon Culinaire is one of the most esteemed chef competitions in the world with a rich heritage of 122 years and the live Duck Culinary Showdown was the biggest international event of the day! With 16 competitors, over two heats, the competition was stiff, but Max delivered an exquisite plate of Truffle Honey Glazed Breast of Duck, Black Garlic Stuffed Morels, Butter Poached Turnips, Duck Heart Brochette, Crispy Kale and Fermented Green Peppercorn Sauce to be crowned Overall Winner.    It has been a sensational six months for Max who won Silver at the Compass Senior Chef of the Year in October 2024. At Chartwells Independent, we truly believe that people are our greatest asset.
