Chaplain Stern’s Post

Chaplain at United States Army

Leaders must understand that people connect with like-minded individuals and ideas. Celebrities and detached, impersonal programs don’t appeal to the average person. This principle applies to both recruiting and retaining talent. It’s essential to engage with talent on their level, offering programs and services that genuinely benefit and enhance their lives. Even the Army Balls and programs of yesteryear must be brought into a style that connects with the younger generation. By modernizing these morale events and making them more relatable, we can foster a sense of belonging and engagement among our service members. My son did not join the Army because of some celebrity. He joined because he grew up near Fort Bragg and built relationships with all the heroes that I had the privilege of serving with over my career. He saw what hard work, commitment, and team work can achieve.

Pretty sure you only need a 14 on the ASVAB to join the Army.

As far as I can find on Google, Mr. Johnson has no record of military service and would likely have been ineligible to join the military due to his juvenile criminal record. I wonder who thought he was a good choice as a “brand ambassador” for the Army?

It’s pretty bad when military wives and husbands rely on welfare to feed their families. Want a stronger military? Improve your public relations. Get our veterans off the streets. Get VA hospitals properly staffed and funded. When someone sees that they’ll be treated as equipment, and cast aside without any help from the government or the branch they served, it tends to dampen their enthusiasm and incentive. Just like here in the civilian sector, treat ‘em like you want to keep ‘em.
