Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist, is pledging a whopping $100 million to beef up cybersecurity, showcasing his ongoing dedication to privacy - a value that was central to Craigslist's success. This move, particularly timely as the Jewish High Holidays approach, is deeply inspired by the spirit of "Tikkun Olam" (repairing the world). Just like cybersecurity helps keep us safe online, Tikkun Olam is all about taking action to make the world a better place. Newmark is directing half of his pledge toward empowering nonprofits like Common Sense Media, while the other half will focus on fortifying critical infrastructure against cyberattacks. This multifaceted approach not only addresses the need for technological solutions but also underscores the vital role of education in empowering individuals to navigate the digital world safely. This also reminds us that cybersecurity isn't just about fancy tech. It's about people, how we interact with technology, and the collective effort to create a safer digital world. If you have an idea you'd like to collaborate on in the cybersecurity space, let me know! I'm always open to exploring new ways to make a positive impact. #cybersecurity #philanthropy #privacy #craignewmark #infosec #tikkunolam #jewish #highholidays

The world of cybersecurity can be overwhelming, especially for small non-profits and NGOs that often operate with limited resources. These organizations are the backbone of so many critical efforts from feeding communities, assisting Veterans, helping the unhoused, and everything in between. Yet, they're often the most vulnerable when it comes to cyber threats. I have been offering Pro Bono IR and advisory services for the past 10 years, but it has been all word of mouth through friends and colleagues. I decided to make this an open proposition. Starting now, I’m dedicating some of my time and expertise to provide Pro Bono Incident Response support and guidance to three small non-profits or NGOs per month. This isn’t about sales or exposure for me, its about doing the right thing. If you’re a small non-profit or NGO, or know of one that could use support in navigating an incident, setting up a plan, or just figuring out where to start, reach out. Let’s protect the missions that make this world better. If you’re interested or have questions, DM me or email jim@threathunter.ai Together, we CAN make a difference.
