Cerulean Winds has selected Haventus’ under-construction Ardersier Energy Transition Facility, located near Inverness, Scotland, as our chosen deployment port. By 2050, floating offshore wind could contribute more than £47 billion to the UK economy and employ 100,000 people. Ardersier will support achieving these targets by deploying and servicing offshore wind installations, providing green jobs and establishing a UK supply chain to rival international competitors. As we read today's announcement in The Press and Journal that one of the world's largest floating wind farms has been approved off the Aberdeenshire coast, it's clear that this is a huge boost for Scotland's ambition to be at the forefront of floating wind technology Our Managing Director, Bill Main comments: “Today’s announcement of a new floating windfarm off Scotland’s coast is a welcome one – especially one of this scale. Not only will it be vital in meeting our net zero targets, but the impact that it will have on the economy and local supply chain here could be significant. The North East of Scotland is brimming with talent and skills that will be critical to the success of these large scale floating offshore wind projects, and we’re delighted to see the Scottish Government backing this corner of the country.” Click here to read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eDfWxhey #floatingwind #offshoreenergy #renewables

The Gippsland Dawn offshore wind project, led by BlueFloat Energy, has received the prestigious Major Project Status (MPS) from the Australian Government—a major milestone recognising its economic significance to Australia. This makes it one of only 16 projects nationwide to receive this honour, and the second offshore wind initiative to do so, following the landmark Star of the South wind farm. This status brings Gippsland Dawn critical support through a dedicated case manager from the Major Projects Facilitation Agency, who will assist BlueFloat Energy in navigating the approvals process. While Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP clarified that MPS does not imply government endorsement or guaranteed financial success, it underscores the project’s "economic significance" to the nation. Darragh White, Project Director, captured it perfectly: “The success of Gippsland Dawn relies on collaboration and shared benefits for everyone involved.” With a 30+ year operational lifespan, Gippsland Dawn is set to power homes, fuel job growth, and support a sustainable future. Projects like this showcase how Australia's wind industry can drive economic transformation, lower emissions, and create long-term value for communities. #renewableenergy #majorprojectstatus #australia #offshorewind #windfarm #mps #windenergy #sustainability #bluefloat #evoegy

We are highlighting the Celtic Sea Cluster today, as one of our UK Offshore Wind Supply Chain Spotlight event supporters! Formally launched in 2021, the Celtic Sea Cluster has been established to help drive market creation for floating wind, accelerate supply chain readiness and develop a strategy for enhancing regional infrastructure. Clusters are geographic concentrations of interconnected companies and institutions in a particular field. The Cluster works closely with its supply chain members, project developers, Governments and regulators. It was set up by ORE Catapult, Welsh Government, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, Celtic Sea Power and Marine Energy Wales. Floating Offshore Wind represents a tremendous opportunity for Scotland - and proper development of the Scottish supply chain will be key to realising it.
Today SOWEC welcomes the Floating Offshore Wind Taskforce report launched at #FloatingWind24, which marks the UK as a global player in the floating offshore wind industry. Scotland is already playing a significant part in delivering the UK’s Net Zero vision. Key ports that will build and maintain floating offshore wind projects have been assessed and prioritised by the Strategic Investment Model (SIM). This is a pivotal moment for Scotland, and we must remain focussed on collaboration across the industry to deliver a stable supply chain. 🌊 The Future of Offshore Wind is Floating 🌊 For example, the Erebus Project, Wales' first floating offshore wind farm, is planned to be deployed off the Pembrokeshire coast in the Celtic Sea. The project construction is likely to commence in 2025 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in December 2026 🌬️⚡ This pioneering initiative by Blue Gem Wind (a TotalEnergies & Simply Blue Group joint venture) will generate 100 MW of clean energy, enough to power nearly 93,000 homes! Why floating wind? ✅ Access to deeper waters with stronger, more consistent wind speeds. ✅ Opens up 20+ GW potential in the Celtic Sea, transforming the local economy. ✅ Boosts energy security while supporting Welsh supply chains and jobs. While CAPEX and OPEX are higher for floating platforms compared to fixed-bottom structures, the benefits of accessing untapped wind resources in deeper waters far outweigh the costs. This project is just the beginning of the UK’s deeper offshore renewable potential. #FloatingWind #RenewableEnergy #CelticSea #WindPower #NetZero #BlueGemWind #EnergyTransition #SustainableFuture #WalesEnergy #OffshoreWind https://lnkd.in/dknhYeWK Richard Winterbourne Adam Hill Peter Kristensen Gary Spicer Mads Bøndergaard Martyn Price Hilton Supra Lucy Wonnacott MCIM Sharon Adams Rachel Moxey Rebecca Evans
