Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles’ Post

It is great to see the announcement by Wayve today of their $1bn investment led by SoftBank, with new investment from NVIDIA and an increased investment from Microsoft. Wayve are a pioneer in developing and deploying end-to-end deep learning and it's application in self-driving. They refer to this as 'embodied AI' and will enable vehicles to learn from and interact with real-world scenarios, including the ability to navigate and learn from situations that do not follow strict patterns or rules, such as unexpected actions by drivers or pedestrians. CCAV and partners across the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom continue to lead and support the Automated Vehicle Bill as it is set to conclude its passage through parliament in the coming weeks. As part of the Government's £4.5bn investment in British Manufacturing, through the Department for Business and Trade, it was also announced that £150m would enable CCAV to support #CAM through to 2030. These interventions will continue to lay the foundation for innovative British companies like Wayve to scale up and deploy their self-driving technology to increase safety and unlock a market worth up to £42 billion. https://lnkd.in/eAPhzg-9

Congratulations to Wayve! what an achievement, and it is a testament to the dedication and drive demonstrated by the team at Wayve since their founding in 2017. Certainly inspirational for all of us involved in this sector. The solid foundations being laid in the UK by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, along with our sector-wide partners, no doubt will continue to underscore strong investor confidence in UK #CAM.
