Founder & General Partner @ Cartan Capital | Former Professional Athlete

It is my true belief that athletes are uniquely equipped to excel as entrepreneurs. The discipline, resilience, and competitive drive we hone through years of training translate seamlessly into building businesses. We’re conditioned to adapt under pressure, pivot strategies on the fly, and push through setbacks - skills that are invaluable when navigating the unpredictable world of startups. Plus, the teamwork and leadership we develop in sports create a collaborative mindset and environment that’s key to scaling a vision. Thanks to Ethan Joyce and Sports Business Journal for the shoutout and for highlighting the significance and impact of athlete leaders in sports tech. Proud to be a part of this industry!

So incredibly true - both the focus, drive, internal skills to build, then the teamwork /collaborative externally facing skills required to act, impliment and grow. Well articulated CiCi Bellis 🙌🏻

Entrepreneurship takes the same grit, determination, teamwork, learning from failures and getting up again that one faces on the court/field etc. I don't think most of us knew that playing sports would set us up for success in business but looking back it makes so much sense!

I just posted an update this morning CiCi about an experience I had yesterday at LAPS: Life After Professional Sport and one exhibitor in particular, Danny Elliott, a Macclesfield footballer, and his business Footballers Property Group A great initiative, delivered by a current pro, building on his own entrepreneurial experience and helping others to follow in his footsteps.
