The Cycle to Work scheme allows employers to provide bicycles and cyclists’ safety equipment to employees as a tax-free benefit. The scheme must be offered to all employees and the bike must be used mainly for qualifying journeys i.e., between home and work. However, private use of the bike is also allowed. Where the scheme conditions are satisfied employees can benefit from a significant tax and National Insurance Contributions (NICs) exemption. Whilst driving today, the one radio advert which stood out was from Vitality about extending your life by 5 years. Their study shows even small increases in activity levels up to age 70 extending life, with those active for five days a week potentially extending by up to 5 years! By active, this doesn't need to be intense gym workouts either, but walking or running. It has become increasingly evident that insurance and employee benefits has an important role in promoting, rewarding, and providing access to the means of a more active lifestyle, with the longer term benefits clearly evident. https://lnkd.in/eu_kv8er
