Non bank lending, including #directlending now accounts for up to 80% of all mid market deals in Europe... Great to see continued strength in the UK direct lending market. At the other end of the deal lifecycle, #restructuring situations are also becoming more frequent as portfolios mature and deal fundamentals have changed following recent global events. A successful restructuring provides an opportunity for direct lenders, sponsors and management to reset the economics of a deal and secure long term upside, sometimes over and above the original investment case. Value is most frequently lost where there is an impasse whilst investment starved businesses limp on narrowly avoiding covenant defaults, leading to a harder solution down the line.
