This week is #babycommunicationweek24. Led by the Brazelton Centre UK this years theme is: Understanding Babies, Affirming Parents , Nurturing Relationships. Positive parent-infant relationships are the key context in which babies grow – healthily and happily. As professionals working with newborn babies and their families we therefore need to be asking: What is the most impactful way that we can play our part in nurturing these important early relationships? Baby Communication Week aims to answer that question with an approach that recognises the baby as an active player in relationships. The baby who brings with it to the world many social skills and an inextinguishable desire to bond with its caregivers. At the heart of the week will be 5 key messages we believe need to reach every new parent. These are messages that will: * grow parents’ understanding of their newborn’s communication and affirm them in their caregiving. * benefit babies in receiving responsive care and interaction from parents who feel both calm and informed. * result in happy, healthy and nurtured parent-baby relationships To find out more: https://lnkd.in/eYtRfHd2 Parents across Portsmouth can access Newborn Behaviour Observation, a tool to help us explore and interpret your baby’s behaviour and which gives you the opportunity to consider how your baby is communicating with you. Are you REALLY listening to your baby? Babies start communicating long before they can speak —it’s the sounds, gestures, and even the silences. As parents, your role is to understand what they’re trying to say. 💡 Here’s a tip: The next time your baby cries, try these steps: 1. Stay calm; babies can sense your anxiety 2. Observe their cues. Are they rubbing their eyes? Clenching fists? Arching their back? Kicking their legs? 3. Search the meaning of the above actions 4. Respond with love and patience. 🌟 But what if you’re unsure? That’s where Pukaar comes in. Our AI-based platform helps decode your baby’s distress symptoms, giving you clarity and a plan of action. Ready to take the guesswork out of baby care? I recently discussed the pivotal role of the 'parenting party' in blended families on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. Highlighting how mothers wield a significant influence, especially in nurturing the well-being of their children. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the complexities that arise when mistakes are made within the parenting dynamic. Despite the challenges faced by stepmothers in navigating their parenthood journey, it's equally important to recognize the difficulties experienced by birth mothers and fathers, each grappling with unique struggles. The emotional toll on mothers, being thrust into action without ample time to adjust or process changes, is immense. Balancing personal emotions alongside the needs of their child requires immense strength and resilience. Moreover, the blurred lines between stepmothers and birth mothers often lead to a shared responsibility in co-mothering, a role that is frequently undefined and intricate. Understanding the nuances of these relationships is essential in fostering a harmonious environment for all involved. #BlendedFamilies #ParentingRoles #Motherhood #Stepmother #CoParenting

here’s the real deal. curious if other twin moms agree OR if other mamas notice these things. Top five things I’ve noticed: 1. HOW THE WORLD ISNT MADE FOR TWO BABIES. Grocery carts, play groups, swimming lessons, strollers, daycare … A lot of things can be adapted for multiple kids in an age range but very few things allow for two babies/infants. It can feel limiting if you let it. (Thankful for @twingocarrier ) 2. Everyone talks about how the schedule is a must. One wakes up, wake the other one up etc. That I expected; but what I didn’t expect how EMOTIONALLY difficult it is for me. I have mom guilt EVERY TIME I force awake a newly asleep baby just so she can “match wake windows”. It doesn’t seem fair they can’t be “their own” baby. 3. How often I think. HOW AM I GOING TO ____. “Normal” tasks aren’t as simple when there’s two. Naps on the go, feeding out in public, loading into the car, giving a bath, SOOTHING YOUR BABY ... it’s a learning curve with one and with two it feels like always another step to overcome. But with that… 4. How much we have ADAPTED as a family. It was a big change not going to lie but seven months in and we’ve learnt our systems, we’ve built our community, we rely on eachother, we have our tools. 5. How 50% off really means you’re just paying a “normal” price. Thanks for joining the party 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎 Thank you : @jazzyebes . . . . . #TwinMomRealities #TwinParentingInsights #TwinMomLife #TwinMomStruggles #TwinMomChallenges #TwinMomGuilt #TwinLifeAdaptations #TwinParentingJourney #TwinLifeChallenges #TwinMomCommunity #TwinMomSupport #TwinMomTips #TwinParentingTips #TwinParentingHacks #TwinParentingRealities #TwinParentingAdaptations #TwinParentingTools
