Today is #EarthDay, a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability and our shared responsiblity to take action for a healthier planet and a brighter future.   Designed to Passivhaus Classic standards for Hammersmith & Fulham Council, Hartopp and Lannoy Point provides 134 new homes, with over 80% affordable housing. Using design technologies such as 'blue' and 'green' roofs, as well as air source heat pumps and solar panels, the Zero Carbon ethos reduces carbon by 86% and drives down heat loss and energy use.   With a communal open space at its heart, from a comprehensive tree and planting strategy to landscape buffer zones, the completed scheme will achieve 10% net gain in biodiversity.   This project is just one example of how BPTW prioritises energy-efficiency, fabric-first principles and biodiversity, to ensure the communities we work in thrive. I wanted to introduce myself and my business as I am new to LinkedIn! I'm Jon, founder of Walls of Plants. As a father of three boys, I am profoundly concerned about the future of our country and the environment. During the pandemic, I designed a living moss wall to combat roadside pollution. After a few teething issues and developing my first Biochar living wall panel, I met Mr. Peter Birch, who shared my interest in environmental products and was enthusiastic about investing in my designs. Together, we founded Clean City Air with the vision of establishing a research and design facility dedicated to creating environmental products such as living walls and living roof systems. The Grenfell fire disaster profoundly influenced our approach, leading us to prioritise non-combustible materials in our designs. Our latest product range, 'GreenWalls,' offers both self-build systems for domestic use and professionally installed systems for commercial and residential applications. This year, we launched our new website, www.wallsofplants.com, to showcase our products. The site features a GreenWalls price calculator, allowing potential customers to design their own living wall systems and receive a detailed cost breakdown. As a resident of Leeds, my vision is to use the city as a showcase for our living wall and roof systems. Leeds could become the "Milan of the UK," adorned with living walls and roofs that create cleaner, oxygen-rich air and mitigate the urban heat island effect.
