A: I am the Mowing & Bulk Pick-up Supervisor - when fully staffed we are a group of 22 & my day-to-day often changes. I start my days connecting with my teams at a morning meeting, once crews roll out I head into the office to catch up on administrative duties. I then head out and do quality control in mowing areas or scout Olde Towne, check for trash, and connect with my teams in the field. Q: What do you love about your job? A: The people!! If you are a zoo keeper or guide that has decided to make the zoo industry your career, then you need to a line yourself with someone that has faced the same experiences that you will encounter during your career. This of course is equally important for those who are in management positions. Think about it. Who logically should you be seeking advice and guidance from? Someone who has been there and successfully overcome the problems and found the solution? Or Someone who was just handed their position in management without really doing any work or gained any skills or experience and have just sat there without any idea on how to progress and let others do the work and face the responsibility? The answer is obvious, we should never take advice or guidance from someone who hasn't been on the same road that you are now on. Our industry has many want to be people in it that have little to no experience and knowledge about the zoo industry, but fortunately we also have just as many that have done the hard work and gained experience along the way.
