Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Post

Last week, we hosted Kevin Spencer, Ph.D. for an arts-integrated residency focusing on the healing power of magic in clinical settings, interactive classroom experiences for students and adults with disabilities, and sensory-inclusive performances for our community. The residency engaged more than 600 people of all abilities and trained over 50 child life specialists on the use of magic tricks and storytelling to foster trust, help reduce anxiety, explain procedures in a fun way, and motivate kids to be more involved in their treatment.
