Diet in sufficient amount and composition is essential for good health in humans. Total dietary energy intake is modulated by food portion size, food energy density, the number of eating occasions. Diet components and gene interactions play a central role in maintaining health throughout life. Major functions of diet are not only to provide energy and building material for the growth, and development, but also to maintain cellular functions for survival. The effects of diet on gene expression are exerted throughout the life-cycle, with prenatal and early postnatal life being especially critical periods for optimal development. Changes in gene expression may be dynamic and short-term, stable and long-term, and even heritable between cell divisions and across generations. Effects of diet on brain and cognitive function are multifactorial and very complex. These effects not only involve the impact of a single dietary component or chemical on the brain but with numerous interactions between multiple nutrients, metabolites, foods, and other environmental and genetic factors. In addition to major macronutrients (carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins), diet also contains micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and trace elements), which play important roles in maintaining optimal health. Throughout September, PepsiCo will launch DRIPS by Pepsi, which includes eight exclusive beverages crafted by mixologists featuring products such as Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Starry, Rockstar and Lipton Iced Tea. The flavors will be enhanced with fruit syrups, creams, popping boba, fruits and berries, and more. “Consumers, especially Gen Z, are increasingly looking for crafted beverages that provide new flavors, combinations and colors. They’re unafraid to experiment, often with our products at the center. DRIPS by Pepsi is designed to better understand these trends and build PepsiCo’s capabilities in this space so that we can better meet the needs of consumers and our customers. Choice? We go to the grocery store for a weekly shop. Sunday mornings at 7 are really quite, which was a habit we picked up in the early days of COVID. We've gotten to know the early morning team and so its become a habit. I went to the deli counter, and there was a new person. I asked for sliced turkey (my go to lunch sandwich), and she asked what kind. I said, "regular turkey," and I knew I was immediately in trouble. The new attendant listed of a dozen different choices (smoked, peppered, bbq...). We finally agreed that what I wanted was roast turkey (no additional chemicals for flavor, aroma or color). It got me thinking about choice as I strolled through the aisles. Wow, we've got a paralyzing number of choices! Too many choices is no choice at all! Even in the craft beer space (a favorite stop). This is not helpful! My time is more valuable than that. It got me thinking about the power of brands to help me make choices. One takeaway is that I'm going to pay more attention to what brands I really trust and save a lot of time in the grocery store. But then I got thinking: we're trying to create a great brand AgileBrain and I sure hope people will try it and come to trust it too.
