Thrive on Crawford is The NRP Group's first "Health and Housing" partnership in the state of Texas, developed in partnership with JPS Health Network. This community will bring 60 affordable and seven market rate units adjacent to a key site in JPS Health Network's expanded campus to enhance health care services for residents and provide quality housing options near a major Tarrant County employer. "The vision was to partner with JPS Health Network to look at these non-traditional housing partnerships to understand how we can provide more than just affordable housing through additional essential services and access to health care," said Vice President of Development Max Whipple. Growing up in Ferguson, MO, I was blessed with a community of family, neighbors and friends that fostered my development and shaped my perspectives. This neighborhood, vivid in my memory for its warmth and camaraderie, was thrust into the national spotlight in August 2014 during the Ferguson riots—a pivotal moment that underscored the urgent need for community engagement and social justice everywhere. As I reflect, I am incredibly proud to share a recent development that resonates deeply with my personal and professional journey. On April 25, a significant announcement was made by the Urban League of Metro St. Louis and Centene Corporation. Centene has donated its Ferguson claims center—a facility erected in the aftermath of 2014's events—to the Urban League. This building will now serve as the Urban League Centene Connected Community Center. How dope is that? This 45,000-square-foot facility, now in the hands of the National Urban League symbolizes a profound commitment to the community. This partnership created 250 jobs and represented a $25 million investment in Ferguson.  The transition of this space into a hub for vital community services like Head Start, workforce development, and more, marks a continuation of that investment—a legacy of empowerment and positive change. Shawn’s Thoughts: You can truly judge the character of a company by how it responds in times of uncertainty; it's in these moments that values are tested and true commitment to community and employees is revealed. If we are keeping it real, we all know that there are tons of companies and organizations running as far as they can away from places like my hometown, especially surrounding DEI, social justice and community investment. Feels good to suit up daily, doing what I love, for an organization that doesn’t run when difficulty arises. 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 I mentored and chaired my second Dock-Branch-Neighbourhood Community Panel this morning.  We pressed the accelerator three weeks ago, and changed up through a couple of gears this morning! We are looking to triple the size of the panel and diversify the membership ready to take on the challenge of co-designing a Community Framework. Currently there are numerous masterplans, initiatives, projects, and consultation events that it leaves you dizzy. The Panel was born into this powerful wave of regenerative activity to ensure the community voice is heard, but so far it has been playing catch up. Over the next couple of months, they will be reviewing all the plans that will affect the current and future communities in Birkenhead and pulling out the key strands that will shape the quality of life and opportunities for the people that live, work, and visit here in the coming decades. In the New Year we will start to engage this wider community in a series of co-design workshops to build upon these strands to create a community-led process. Several challenges were addressed in today’s meeting:  • The idea of the Dock Branch Neighbourhood has come from the top. The community think that they live in Birkenhead, a famous “village” on the Mersey.   • Nobody has heard of the Dock Branch Community Panel - some ask “what company is that” because there are so many consultants here! We are Community Champions and need to start championing. • Young people need to be central to everything that we do – and for them to become the ‘we’ in this place. • This is also a ‘trauma landscape’ – we must ensure that all design is trauma informed, equitable and a supportive public realm emerges quick

As the city grows, Imagine Nashville's Priority #4 is focused on cultivating each neighborhood's unique character while ensuring everyone has access to essential amenities like grocery stores, schools, green spaces, and safe sidewalks. Ideas for Action >Training residents to develop neighborhood plans that reflect their community’s needs and identity. >Piloting “complete neighborhood” concepts with mixed-use centers and youth-friendly spaces. >Increasing funding and resources for neighborhood groups to empower local voices in city planning.
