We were deeply moved by the tragic story of 13-year-old Martha Mills, who lost her life to sepsis, which her family believes could have been prevented, if their concerns were listened to. Her legacy has led to the adoption of Martha’s Rule, giving families the right to seek a second opinion when a loved one is deteriorating in hospital. At the Brain Injury Group, we recognise how crucial early recognition of sepsis is, particularly for those recovering from a traumatic brain injury, where the risk can be heightened.
