For our penultimate celebration of International Women’s Day, we had the honour of being joined by The Times Fashion Editor, Harriet Walker. Our team were spilling out into the corridors to hear Harriet’s invaluable insight into the world of fashion - and for someone who for nigh on 20 years has been a guest at London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks, her refreshingly grounded take on it; e.g. that nothing is more important than comfort, and that keeping on top of trends requires little more than people watching. We talked about fashion’s seat at the table in a world where it is juxtaposed on a page with the war in the Ukraine and the Six Nations results. We talked about our concern as women that we aren’t being noticed - and that everyone is judging us – two mutually exclusive concepts that can’t coexist and should therefore be dismissed as hogwash. We talked about the importance of teamwork in parenthood, how we relax into our friendships with age, and the relief of our social circles shrinking with time. Our key takeaways? To surround ourselves with people who fill us with the confidence to succeed, and that the future of fashion is sustainability - creating beautiful clothes that are made to last using sustainable practices. #weareboden #harrietwalker #internationalwomensday
