As a part of the DART Silver Line project, Archer Western Herzog is constructing a major grade separated rail crossing at Hillcrest Road in north Dallas. Hillcrest is a main thoroughfare roadway and is being depressed about 17 feet. Once complete, vehicular and pedestrian traffic will travel underneath the rail line. There is a lot to take from the recommendations and how the industry can positively move forward to ensure it rightly keeps people safe in their homes. It will no doubt take time for any of the recommendations within the report to be considered, debated and flow through the parliamentary process and become statute. What happens in the short term to the circa 4000 buildings still left with identified risk when it ‘appears’ the current regulations, newly formed regulators and processes could now be seen as insufficient and inadequate, this further compounded by confidence in the industry having fallen to a point where trust has been lost.

Echoing what others have already said today, if you work in construction or property, regardless of your role you should make time to read and digest the Grenfell Tower Phase 2 Report Overview and watch the inquiry panel statement as a minimum. We all have a duty to do better and learn from what is a damning report for the construction and property industry. Link below ⬇
