Animal lovers: We need your help! There are two animal welfare initiatives that are being reviewed in Congress right now and they need support! Your elected officials need to know that their constituents care about protecting animals and supporting the organizations that care for them. The two initiatives are The Companion Animal Capital Fund, which provides critical funding for animal shelters in New York, and the Animal Crimes Fund, which would help to reimburse shelters for the astronomical fees associated with caring for animals who have been seized in cruelty cases. Both of these initiatives are crucial for the health and well-being of New York's companion animals. The years ahead are going to be challenging for shelters and homeless animals; this is one meaningful action you can take that can make a big difference. Here's what to do: 1)Call your Senator and Assembly member. If you don't know who they are, you can find your assembly member here: https://lnkd.in/eEif7zy and your senator here: https://lnkd.in/dSYygVY 2)Once you know who your representatives are, call the switchboards of each house. The number to the assembly switchboard is 518-455-4100. Ask for your assembly member’s office, and if no one answers , you can leave a message. The number to the senate switchboard is 518-455-2800 and you can follow the same instructions as above. What to Say: I’m calling to ask Assembly member X/Senator X to speak out for including $2.5M in your chamber’s one-house budget bill for the Companion Animal Capital Fund and $1.25M for the Animal Crimes Fund. This funding is crucial for the health and well-being of New York’s companion animals. Thank you!
