Nordic Roadmap – Green shipping corridor initiatives in a Nordic perspective 11th April 2024, Gothenburg Fürstenberg Maritime Advisory as supporting partners: Nordic Roadmap - Future Fuels for Shipping https://lnkd.in/dRY9CsqY , were delighted to be able to attend the event, closer to home this time. The bit of bio-diesel for the drive there was well worth it. Funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and Co-ordinated by DNV this project is pushing forward on regional deployment of low carbon maritime fuels. In Gothenburg we mainly focused on the Maritime Green Corridor (MGC) concept. Actually, there is already plenty of ongoing MGC development in the region. This session included discussion around connecting the value chain dots to enable business case, going beyond ships and ports. We heard about residual cost (Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping) and the need to collaborate with cargo owners who can access competitive advantage through reduced carbon transport offerings (PBI Research Institute). The perspective and industry insight from Elin Swedlund - Skogsindustrierna were a great finale to the day! Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, joined a high-level panel to explore the vital connections between the recycling sector and raw materials policy. Together with key industry leaders such as Karl Haeusgen, President of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), Holger Lösch, Deputy Director General BDI-Initiative Circular Economy (BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V.), Markus Steilemann, President of the German Chemical Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V. (VCI)) and Johannes F. Kirchhoff, Chairman of the IFAT Executive Board. Brantner emphasized the importance of integrating circular economy strategies into our raw materials strategy.
