Bayobab delivered a resilient performance in the latest financial period, underpinned by continued strategic execution and infrastructure expansion across key markets. Consolidated external revenue was softer year-on-year (YoY), down 1.4%* to $375.6 million. However Fixed Connectivity external revenue rose by 13.8%* YoY, driven by the expansion of fibre operations in Zambia, Kenya and the Central African Republic. Communications Platform external revenue saw a slight decrease of 3.1%* YoY. Despite network disruptions in Sudan and currency volatility in Nigeria, Bayobab ensured continuity of services and operational resilience. Strengthening global connectivity, Bayobab successfully landed the 2Africa subsea cable in Ghana, Nigeria, and Côte d'Ivoire, reinforcing its role in digital transformation. In Kenya, the national long-distance (NLD) fibre network now links Mombasa to Malaba and Busia, enhancing interconnectivity and stimulating economic growth, while in the Central African Republic, regional connectivity advanced under the East2West initiative, with progress on the national backbone through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Bayobab’s Communication Platforms business maintained a robust portfolio, launching over 4,500 roaming services through global mobile partnerships and delivering approximately 2.6 billion minutes of voice traffic and 2.7 billion SMS messages. In addition, Bayobab’s excellence in service and innovation was further recognised with the ‘Best Wholesale Operator’ award at the World Communication Awards (WCA) 2024. With strong infrastructure, strategic partnerships, and innovation-led growth, Bayobab remains well-positioned to drive continued value creation for customers and stakeholders across Africa. *Consolidated external revenue YoY percentage as reported by MTN Group in Rands as at 31 December 2024.
