TechCrunch has announced its selection of 200 startups for the Startup Battlefield 200, a significant milestone that reflects a record number of applications from a wide array of countries and industries. Out of these, 20 companies have been identified as finalists, set to compete on the Disrupt Stage for a grand prize of $100,000 in equity-free funding, along with the prestigious Disrupt Cup. This year's program underscores the competitive nature of the startup ecosystem, with less than 1% of applicants advancing to the Top 20 Finalist stage. Teshe my view for a startup is like a newborn child or a pregnancy in its early stages. Just as with a child's milestones, each achievement in a startup's journey feels significant. Similarly, there's anticipation and preparation as you await the birth of your idea into a fully-fledged business. Both journeys involve excitement, challenges, and the joy of growth and development.
Gentle reminder: a startup means a company that just started. Has nothing to do with disruption, scalability, innovation or digital availability. #Ethiopia #startup2024

This is a terrible mindset for startup founders: (It held me back for months) Thinking that only big budgets create great products Believing that you need all the answers upfront Here’s the thing... In 2024, innovation doesn’t require huge resources—it requires smart decisions. Zoom out: 70% of startups fail because they build without validating their idea first. Focus on validating your concept before scaling up.

I was recently introduced to this video in my class at ASU, "The Lean Startup: Innovation Through Experimentation." by Eric Ries. It's a nice introduction for those just starting their own business or seeking to be their own entrepreneur. While this information is probably basic information or common sense to those who have already done their fair share of startups, it is nice for someone to get a general idea of what is needed or what someone needs to know who is just starting out. So that they can not only avoid wasting their time and finances, but also mitigate the chances for failure. https://lnkd.in/gV3xJRp7

Recently, I watched a thought-provoking video "The Lean Startup: Innovation Through Experiment" by Eric Ries. In essence, he could repeat that "Businesses in the very beginning should focus on iteration, continuous learning, and ongoing testing." In this regard, he emphasizes the importance of validating learning through customers and the use of Minimum Viable Products to reduce risks effectively by being small. He preaches pivoting on actual data and metrics, not on vanity metrics. The Lean Startup approach urges businesses to embrace uncertainty and change course swiftly in line with market needs. This is particularly relevant for professionals seeking innovation and agility in today's fast-moving business environment. #Entrepreneurs #innovation #BusinessDevelopment #startup https://lnkd.in/gUzbZwum
