Tourism fuels rental car sales
Rental agencies bought 141 vehicles last month, the second highest number of cars sold to the industry so far this year.
Compared to June, 161% more vehicles were sold to rental agencies.
Cirrus Capital attributes the increase to Namibia entering its peak tourism season.
Toyota Hilux again was the preferred vehicle with 59 units sold, Cirrus says.
“Fortuner also saw 38 units sold, up from just five in the previous month.”
According to the analysts: “As a percentage of total bed nights sold across the country, the central and coastal regions see relatively less demand than the northern and southern regions during mid-year.
“Tourists travelling or staying in central and coastal areas typically prefer smaller, nimble vehicles such as the Polo Vivo, while tourists travelling to northern and/or southern regions typically prefer vehicles more suited for long and/or off-road travel, such as the Toyota Hilux.”
