Today, I'm proud to share Aperture® Pulse, our latest solution at Atlas AI. In a world where change outpaces our ability to measure it, we've created a tool to help organizations stay ahead. Pulse uses satellite imagery and AI to monitor urban and economic development in near real-time. This week at #ClimateWeekNYC, I've heard stories that underscore the urgent need for such a solution. Leaders spoke of climate-driven #migration stressing infrastructure and social services in ways they struggle to quantify. Communities reeling from unexpected floods, facing untold damage that's challenging to assess quickly. Policymakers grappling with towns transforming in real-time due to new industrial investments and shifting supply chains. These conversations hammered home why we built Pulse. It's designed to provide the rapid insights needed to address these evolving challenges. By offering near real-time monitoring of urban development, environmental changes, and economic shifts at scale, Pulse aims to equip decision-makers with the timely data they need to respond effectively to our changing world. None of this would be possible without the incredible work of the Atlas AI team. This solution is the result of intense collaboration by team members across three continents, bringing together diverse expertise to create a truly global solution. I'm grateful for their dedication and the range of innovations produced in service of this launch. As we move forward, I'm hopeful that Pulse can play a role in building more resilient, adaptive communities worldwide. There's much work ahead, but I'm excited to see how this tool might help us all keep pace with the numerous changes shaping our world. https://lnkd.in/gJ8w8TVJ

This looks like a powerful tool for policymakers and humanitarian organizations trying to monitor the flow of migrants and refugees after a disaster or shock. Migration frequently occurs through informal routes making accurate, real-time monitoring incredibly challenging. This limits the ability of decision-makers to assess the situation and deliver the right services where they’re most needed. In my experience with gov and non-gov organizations supporting Venezuelan migrants in Colombia, a tool like Pulse could provide valuable insights to enable more efficient, cost-effective delivery of targeted services. Abe Tarapani, real-time monitoring is a powerful addition to the toolkit, but I’m curious how Pulse could also be leveraged to improve forecasting and help decision-makers stay one step ahead of emerging trends? Tagging a few who might find this interesting: Barri Shorey, LUCAS GOMEZ GARCIA, Natalia Durán Valbuena, Felipe Munoz Gomez, Domenico Tabasso, Camilo Andrés Méndez, Paula Rossiasco, Lina María Valencia, Duncan Lawrence

One of my main critiques of Gen AI (apart from the hallucinations, weak moats, and general FOMO hype) is that startups and VCs focus too much on less-than-relevant use cases. I see brilliant people spend their time and/or money building better ad engines, faster e-commerce checkouts, and fintech customer service chatbots. These are not really world-changing ideas for the betterment of humanity, right? Enter Google DeepMind. After mastering chess and Go, they turned their attention to protein folding, which resulted in The Nobel Prize. They are now using AI to improve weather predictions. "Finally", some useful, practical applications! "Google DeepMind has unveiled an artificial intelligence weather prediction model that outperforms traditional methods on forecasts up to 15 days and is better at foreseeing extreme events. The tool, known as GenCast, gauges the likelihood of multiple scenarios to accurately estimate trends from wind power production to tropical cyclone movements. GenCast’s probabilistic technique is a new milestone in the rapid progress in using AI to power better and quicker everyday weather projections, an approach big traditional forecasters are increasingly embracing. The model outperformed the ECMWF’s 15-day forecast on 97.2 per cent of 1,320 variables, such as temperature, wind speed and humidity, according to a paper published in Nature on Wednesday." #GenAI #Deeptech #DeepMind #NobelPrize https://lnkd.in/dTk48NJr
