This submission is based on positive results from the Phase III OASIS 1, 2, and 3 studies. “Half of the world’s population will experience menopause, with 27 million women in the U.S. currently experiencing this transition. Many go without treatment due to gaps in awareness and limitations of available options,” said Christine Roth Christine Roth, EVP, Global Product Strategy and Commercialization at Bayer. “The FDA submission for elinzanetant marks a significant milestone in offering a new non-hormonal option for women.” Elinzanetant (120 mg orally once daily) significantly reduced the frequency and severity of moderate-to-severe VMS and demonstrated a favorable safety profile. Consistent improvements were seen across all key secondary endpoints, including sleep disturbances and menopause-related quality of life. The full results of OASIS 1 and 2 were presented at the 2024 ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting. Positive topline results for OASIS 3 were announced in March 2024, with further details to be presented at an upcoming scientific meeting. Bayer will also submit applications for marketing authorizations to other health authorities worldwide. #Bayer #Pharma #WomensHealth #Menopause #VasomotorSymptoms #Elinzanetant #HotFlashes #FDA #DrugDevelopment #ClinicalTrials #HealthcareInnovation #Pharmaceuticals #HealthAwareness #OASISStudies

This year's World Menopause Day's theme is MHT - Menopause Hormone Treatment - commonly known as HRT in the UK. So just a timely reminder that if you are prescribed HRT in the UK, you can apply for a prescription prepayment certificate specifically for HRT. This costs £19.80 for the year, and allows as many items of eligible HRT to be prescribed for the one cost. This is a huge saving compared to paying monthly and per medication. If you already have another medication prescribed such as a statin, then it might be cheaper to consider a yearly prepayment certificate that covers all medications. You can take a look on the link below as well as seeing which HRT medications are eligible for prescribing via this scheme. https://lnkd.in/ee_6AV_9

This is significant news: Eli Lilly has removed BMI ranges from Zepbound's FDA label, following Novo's similar move with Wegovy earlier this year. Why does this matter? Because BMI is an outdated and oversimplified metric that shouldn't be the sole gatekeeper for accessing these medications. At Midi Health, we've long recognized that healthcare decisions need to be based on comprehensive patient evaluation, not just a number on a scale. Weight management, particularly during menopause, is complex and deeply individual. A one-size-fits-all BMI cutoff simply doesn't make sense. This label change empowers physicians to have more nuanced conversations with their patients and make treatment decisions based on individual health needs, circumstances, and goals. That's exactly how medicine should work. This shift from rigid BMI requirements to more personalized care approaches is something we've championed at Midi from day one. It's validating to see major pharmaceutical companies and the FDA moving in this direction too.

Weight gain in menopause is one of the most common complaints according to our patient quality of life intake questionnaire. Treating menopause symptoms with estrogen or non-hormonal therapeutics is always a necessary first step toward weight management. If someone is hot, not sleeping, and fatigued, they reach for the wrong foods to fuel their body and skip exercise. Many women experience food noise and need the help of medication to manage weight. MyMenopauseRx evaluates each patient as a unique individual, creating a personalized treatment plan that may include the use of FDA-approved GLPs. This recent warning from the FDA is an example of why MyMenopauseRx has chosen to put our patients' health first, saying no to prescribing compounded injectables. The Obesity Medicine Association itself issued a statement that is available to read in full on its website. Here is an excerpt: "To be clear, the only FDA-approved manufacturers of these medications are the companies that created the active pharmaceutical ingredients—Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. These companies stated that they do not sell the active ingredient to compounding pharmacies, and substances made or distributed by compounding pharmacies or other healthcare practitioners that claim to be semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic) or tirzepatide (Zepbound, Mounjaro) have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, quality, or efficacy. Worse yet, there are reports that these counterfeits may pose serious health risks because of impurities or other non-pharmaceutical additives due to lack of regulatory oversight. Therefore, we do not recommend the use of these alternatives. We do not recommend the use of these alternatives". Sadly many patients do not know that FDA-approved Tirzepatide, Zepbound is only about $411/month (that includes the syringes) cash pay and is readily available. MyMenopauseRx patients are using it and SAFELY losing weight. MyMenopauseRx will continue its mission of improving access to women's menopause care that is safe, rooted in science, and covered by health insurance. Women deserve to feel their best at any age. 💜 #menopausecare #menopause #weightmanagement #zebound #telemedicine Michelle Corcoran
