A big misconceptions is that healthcare in Canada is fully portable from province-to-province. In fact, “additional benefits” under the Canada Health Act are generally not portable outside one's home province or territory. It is always recommended that Canadians purchase private health insurance (or check your employee benefits plan or your credit card, if applicable) to ensure coverage for unexpected medical expenses when travelling outside their home province or territory.
Travelling within Canada but outside your province or territory of residence? Always remember to check whether you have travel emergency medical insurance. While provinces have reciprocal billing agreements with one another to cover necessary hospital and physician services, ambulances, air ambulance and commercial repatriation and many other services are not covered. THIA recommends consumers check their coverage (employee benefits, credit card etc…) or purchase travel medical insurance if they have plans to travel outside their province or territory of residence. https://lnkd.in/gn_SDnBZ

It's Travel Season !! And that means it's also Travel Insurance season - even if you're not leaving Canada. Please check your existing public and private coverage or employee benefits to see what services are covered or claimable. Think about it - How many people do you know who have been sick, needed prescriptions, required physiotherapy, or had an accident and required an ambulance or medical care, while visiting another province? These situations come up every day. And while Travel Insurance cannot stop a medical situation or emergency, it can prevent a financial shortfall resulting from treatment and related costs. Whether at work or at play, please ensure you are covered, before you leave home. If you have concerns about non-covered medical costs within Canada, I offer a variety of solutions to ensure you are financially protected. Have a safe travel season!! #travelinsurance #employeebenfits #insuranceclaims

ANC is determined to bring in universal health care in long term and the National Health Insurance (NHI) proposals are at a decisive point. Despite promises made in support of the GNU, the government in it's rush to do this appears to be stalling on issues surrounding private medical aid cover and how it may, or may not fit, into the long-term plan. For many South Africans, concerns regarding the future of medical aid are a significant source of anxiety, particularly in the context of the current cost of living crisis. parlyreportsa brings you up to date as always: https://lnkd.in/dCv7MckJ

The Universal Healthcare Access Coalition (UHAC), which represents the majority of healthcare professional associations in South Africa, has presented an alternative to the National Health Insurance (NHI) to President Cyril Ramaphosa. These include a proposal to separate funding from service purchasing, improve public healthcare services, and expand medical scheme coverage. https://lnkd.in/d7dFaDQJ

Interesting article about the shift towards health insurance. Best way to get health insurance, in my view, is to get insurance through your business. Massive shifts towards employers providing cover for their employees these days. Or if you’re self-employed, I’m really happy to discuss options with you relating to WPA products. 07968078538. judith.west@wpa-hcp.org.uk
