Happy Official-Back-To-School, Alt Certs! The first day of school has two rules: 1. Students get fed. 2. Students make it home safely. That’s it! These are the two most important things that will ever happen on the first day of school. Here are expectations for educators: 1. Be welcoming. 2. Be an example. 3. Be strong in your expectations of students. 4. Be patient, not a pushover. 5. Be kind. 6. Be thoughtful in your wine choice tonight. You deserve a good one.

No time to talk! We spend so much time and effort in the Early Years phase trying to get children to speak and find their voice. We teach them how to pronounce new words, speak in full sentences and form their own opinions. The assessment system even rates just how well our little ones are using their voice. Then... they enter the formal education system, where.... We expect, and in many cases design our lessons so that children become passive absorbers of knowledge. There are class rules that involve lots of great aspects of behaviour for learning (concentration, listening, focusing) BUT the Oracy drops off massively compared to the EYFS environments. So we need some new class rules in Years 1 and above. I'll start it off... To contribute, share your ideas, thoughts and build upon your classmates ideas in class To be brave and say your opinion without the fear of failure or embarrassment To have opportunities to debate, study and problem solve together Anymore to add?

December is upon us! Soon, the university will ask students to fill out online course questionnaires reviewing their faculty. This is a typical practice at nearly all universities. If you struggle with being reviewed by 18-22-year-olds (and who could blame you?), check out my blog post about OCQ Game Plans: https://lnkd.in/gkhUUnug. If you're IU-local, join me and a colleague for a session on how to utilize OCQs to improve your teaching: https://lnkd.in/grtEgJx6

We’ve made history, and we didn’t even need to get dressed to do it. 88 Minerva's Virtual Academy students were some of the first in the world to take their GCSE exams entirely remotely. No freezing sports hall with the weird smell. No counting the bricks if you finish early. No getting distracted because someone three rows back can’t stop coughing. Exams are meant to be a test of your knowledge and ability, not how bearable the facilities you’re sitting in are. The students are required to have multiple cameras pointed at them throughout and are kept under close watch to ensure no cheating (I’d argue it’s more effective than two or three people physically patrolling a room!). Still, they’re free to get comfy and focus in a space they know. And I seriously think traditional schools will be adopting this approach sooner than you think. We all get nervous before a big test – why put certain kids at a disadvantage by making them do it in an environment where they feel uncomfortable?

I love these 3 simple rules. Clear and concise. 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ Having been doing a bit more of my Paul Dix’s FE course yesterday, I’ve been working on the same along with some scripts, positive postcards and bookmarks for my team 😆🙌🏼 #calmconsistentandpredictable
Simplifying Our School Rules We are excited to announce that we are using Paul Dix's principles to simplify our school rules. Our new guidelines focus on three core values: Be Ready: Arrive to your lessons smart, motivated, and equipped to learn. Be Responsible: Own your attitudes and behaviour. Don’t disrupt others’ learning and be responsible for your own. Be Respectful: Show respect to our community and environment. Follow instructions the first time, every time. Respect personal space and school property. Paul Dix #educate

At the Nov. 19 Barrington 220 Board of Education meeting, the Board recognized 29 Barrington 220 educators who have earned the Science of Reading micro-credential. A micro-credential is a short, competency-based recognition that allows teachers to demonstrate mastery in a particular area that supports students' success. To earn this micro-credential, teachers had to complete more than 70 hours of professional learning through the LETRS course (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). A total of 110 D220 educators have earned this micro-credential.

I do what I believe in for a living; weed!. For better or worse, the cannabis industry is far from what it was when I began in the summer of 2018. My goal is to continue helping steer it in the right direction.
9moFayette County is a criminally underserved area. Close to the cultivation facility would be an ideal location for the next dispensary opening!!
