It took me about a year into my career to realise that growth is painful. When you are at university, growth happens automatically. You enroll in advanced courses, your social circle expands naturally. Your career does not work this way. By default, careers tend toward stagnation, so you need to work at it, actively and repeatedly. At the same time, growing is a painful exercise. It's also very slow; there's a limited band of activities that are immediately beyond your current horizon. You have to take a small, calculated step; a massive leap forward almost always risks over-committing. Recognising that growth is intentional, however, helps make it your strength. Learning new coding techniques, master new SOTA AI approaches, or improving your ability to judge good ideas...each of these skills pushes you slightly past comfort, and is another trick. That's all "skill" is: a bunch of tricks you've accumulated.
Very well written!
Agreed 💯
I agree. Another aspect of growth is, that it is not linear and we often lack perspectives there. Sometime we are growing indeed just not in a way we imagine.
Abhishek Divekar just want to tell you that i look forward to your posts and valuable insights . Usually people from maang just sell dreams and courses to desperate people but you share valuable opinions , resources and insights which people like me in the Ai / DS community benefit from . Just keep them coming man and thanks a lot for actively sharing your knowledge !
In which direction should we commit is a huge challenge. Atleast historically I choose what I enjoy the most. Maybe I should also look at what I enjoy. 😆
I agree 💯
