The European VC fundraising scene is showing a clear trend. Experience matters. Let's unpack some data on this! From The State of European Fundraising Report. 1/ Why track record matters. In a cautious market, LPs (investors) are prioritizing established funds with a proven history of success. Experienced firms captured 54.5% of the capital raised in 2023. 2/ New opportunities for LPs. This market shift presents a golden opportunity for LPs to build relationships with top-tier VC firms. Firms they might not have accessed before. 3/ Focus on creating value. Investors are seeking firms that prioritize building real value, not just hype. This is a great long-term trend for the industry. If you are an emerging fund manager, the time to build a strong reputation and track record is now. Focus on building a compelling value proposition and demonstrating a clear path to success to attract investors. Learn how to navigate the effects of the #TechReset. Private capital fundraising has stabilized, with expectations of reaching around $1.7 trillion for the year through Q2 2024, marking the best result in nearly two years, according to PitchBook’s Q2 2024 Private Market Fundraising Report. General partners (GPs) raising secondaries or real assets funds are seeing notable improvements. However, challenges persist in real estate, venture capital, and funds of funds, with longer closing times for VC funds and increased selectivity from limited partners (LPs), making it tough for emerging managers. https://lnkd.in/gzvdqzkF

According to our Q2 2024 Private Market Fundraising Report, private capital fundraising is showing signs of recovery. When accounting for pending data, we're on track for approximately $1.7 trillion in fundraising for the year—a significant rebound and the best result in nearly two years. Notably, General Partners (GPs) focusing on secondaries and real assets are seeing improved results. However, challenges persist in sectors like real estate, venture capital, and funds-of-funds. Venture capital vehicles are experiencing longer closing times, and emerging managers face a tough landscape with more selective Limited Partners (LPs). Overall, while private fundraising is gaining momentum, it remains a dynamic and evolving space! #PrivateCapital #Fundraising #VentureCapital #PrivateEquity #Finance

If the investor is trying to hold the frame and nickel-and-dime the deal, then don’t be stressed at all. Do this to raise funds: That’s what no one would tell you in investment deals, but I’m here to help in 2025. -> Address it directly and set it upfront. Use this: “We’re not here to control the call or hold the frame to win the deal over the other side. We both have closed deals before, and we are here to see if there’s a way to provide value to your side and ours. If there is, then we explore it further. If there is not, then we wish you all the best of luck.” Just use it. it works extremely well to close more deals and get past insecurity. making the investor open up and become more comfortable on the call. #VentureCapital #StartupFunding #PrivateEquity #HedgeFunds #CapitalRaising #ZiadSelo

Just after the Baltic PE/VC Market Overview 2023 made by KPMG. Lots of valuable data about fresh capital raised and investments/divestments made by Baltic funds. Year-on-year trends available, check it out. 💡 My takeaway – growth capital is scarce and will be most wanted in the coming years. While early VCs have to be specialised or otherwise standout in order not to get lost among the 840m of dry powder. #privateequity #venturecapital #fundraising https://lnkd.in/dPCMcZGx

Here's a little #fundraising trick: The competitors of your competitor's investors are your likely investors. 😉 It's simple: VCs operate in a “frenemy” environment. VCs join forces on specific deals, but they also compete with each others on the best deals. Trust that every VC tracks down their competitors' recent investments and occasionally make similar bets. What does it mean for you? If a competitor of yours recently got a check from a given VC, here’s your opportunity to pitch to the competitor of that VC: 1. Make a list of all the competitors in your space. 2. Identify your competitors' investors (by stage) and list their own competitors. The result: A shortlist of investors which will be very interested to hear from you.
