As we enter 2025 and await the new general practice contract and what the primary care network specification has in store for us from April, it's a good time to consider where the future could be heading. The 2024 Darzi Report was published in September 2024, outlining significant insights into the future of the NHS. I am sharing my summary, emphasizing the increasingly complex health and social care support patients require. 🌟 Introducing LEO Clinic’s New Medication Management Program for Autism and Developmental Delays! 🌟 At LEO Clinic, we understand the challenges that families with loved ones facing developmental delays and autism experience when it comes to consistent medication management. That’s why we’re launching our Medication Management Only program to bridge the gap in care, ensuring families have access to vital services—quickly and virtually. ✨ What We Offer: • Weekly, biweekly, or monthly medication management sessions (virtual). • Monthly case management with a licensed social worker to address additional care needs. • All insurances accepted. ✨ Why This Matters: Research shows that 60% of children with autism are on medications, but only 30% receive consistent follow-up care. Families often face long wait times for psychiatric services, which can delay effective treatment by up to 6 months. Our program eliminates these barriers, ensuring patients receive the timely care they need to thrive. Together, we can ensure that these families receive the support, flexibility, and care they deserve! How a Family Can Determine Whether to Take the Next Steps to Hire a Therapeutic Placement Consultant As parents, we understand how heart-wrenching it can be to see your child in distress. When families contact us, we recognize their fear and desperation for a solution. Our mission is to provide guidance and support, truly listen and understand their unique needs, and help them find the best options. It is complex; we are here to offer our service and expertise if they have exhausted every resource in their community. In our 30-minute complimentary consultation, we tease that out. We ask, Is your child/young adult safe? What are the behaviors? If they have escalated or decreased, please describe them. What has the family done so far in their community? e.g., individual therapy, group therapy, inpatient (hospitalizations) PHP, IOP, testing. What is their child's level of hopefulness or hopelessness? What is the family's stance? We believe in a collaborative approach, where the family's involvement is crucial. Are they willing to work just as hard as their child? Families hire educational and therapeutic placement consultants because they have the knowledge and expertise of the myriad programs throughout the United States. We spend an average of 30% of our time traveling to programs to tour and evaluate. We are independent and work solely for the families who retain our services. We value your commitment to helping your child and are here to support you every step of the way. Then, we explain how we work on behalf of the family and describe the different types of interventions available. Examples may be outdoor behavioral health programs, short-term residential programs, therapeutic boarding schools, or residential treatment centers. Sometimes, through the initial free, no obligation 30-minute phone consultation and after listening to their struggles, we may say wait a minute. Have you had any testing done, such as neuropsych testing? I recently worked with one family whose 10-year-old child was out of control. He was aggressive both at home and at school. He was expelled. He had been hospitalized several times in one year for suicidal ideation. The parents were exhausted, trying to help their child. I recommended a trusted psychologist in their community to test him. The results were a relief. He was on the Autism spectrum. They had a better idea of how to get the appropriate treatment for their child.

Paper #6 in our @BioMedCentral Trials special series. Frantz et al developed & tested an #AdverseEvent assessment tool for trials of parenting programmes for children with behaviour problems. This comprehensive AE assessment tool can be used by others with adaptations for the specific context. Also lots to be learnt from this paper on adverse event assessments in trials of complex interventions. https://lnkd.in/e6fT-tZr

What diagnosis do you have this week? While I am so glad stigma is decreasing, it's hard to ignore the self-diagnosing that seems to be happening. It can lead to misinformed guidance and even treatment. Just because you're distracted doesn't mean you have ADHD--just because your anxious doesn't mean you have generalized anxiety disorder. More adults are on stimulant medication since the pandemic, which has caused a shortage of medication for those who need it. More employers are focused on supporting a neurodiverse workforce, which will help those who struggle with attention or think differently from their peers. https://lnkd.in/g5xmWKRB

Did you know? Around 1 in 18 young adults misuse opioids. 💊 The National Institute on Drug Abuse reveals a concerning trend: young adults are the largest group misusing prescription opioid pain relievers, ADHD stimulants, and anti-anxiety medications. These aren't just statistics; they represent real individuals struggling with substance misuse and its widespread consequences. It's a stark reminder of the urgent need for awareness, education, and support to combat the opioid crisis among our youth. Let's come together to foster a culture of understanding, empathy, and action. Every conversation, every act of support, brings us closer to a future where our youth are empowered to make healthy choices and live fulfilling lives. Together, we can make a difference. 💪 Learn More | https://vist.ly/35p6d #opisafevending #safetyfirst #harmreduction #festivalsafety #narcanaccess #safercommunities #trustinevents #opisafe #festivalinnovation #publichealthinnovation
