Sponsorships and partnerships are more than just ROI. (BUT ALSO - They can and often do generate ROI!!) In pretty much all my roles as a marketer, I've been held to ROI goals. At first, it meant I chose initiatives where ROI was quick to get and easy to measure. That meant I spent way too much time focused on the bottom of the funnel -- optimizing forms, PPC to sale campaigns, webinar or event to outreach plays, etc. And, as you may imagine, the top of those funnels dried up pretty quickly. I had to find the balance in budgets for all parts of the funnel. I think that's why Jyll Saskin Gales's approach to becoming a #WTSPartner resonated with me so much. The balance in Jyll's goals contains ROI but it is not the only goal. Goals on money, brand, and values -- it's the whole package and it puts us immediately on the same page in terms of the strategy we need to meet Jyll's goals: 1️⃣ Brand 💕 Get you in the community and raise awareness about you AND Inside Google Ads 2️⃣ Brand & Values 💕🤗 Showcase your values and expertise by helping specific groups of community members where your services intersect their actual needs -- like PPC for SEOs! 3️⃣ Money 💰 Bind all that together with a sales promotion that will start to tell us how well we did #1 and #2 We're not jumping straight to sales without doing the other important bits. And we're also not forgetting that ROI is a very important piece of the equation that makes partnerships like this sustainable - especially for small businesses. With what I've learned about sponsorships and partnerships so far, here's the advice I would give alongside what I'm guessing are some of the alignments Jyll found when deciding to partner with WTS: ✔ Choose a niche audience you want to focus on, but hasn't been within your reach just yet -- Jyll's is SEOs ✔ Find a community or business that is focused in that niche -- Women in Tech SEO! ✔ Vet that potential partner on values, their audience's engagement, the ways and strategy in which you'll access their audience, pricing -- Clear values stated in The WTS Way (code of conduct), ~20K Slack messages exchanged each month, clear expectations and pricing right on the Partners page ✔ Set your goals -- Money, Brand, Values! ✔ Find your niche within that niche community (I know, so much niche!) -- SEOs who want to understand more about their PPC counterpart. ✔ Collaborate on a plan with your new partner to get there! What else would you add to finding sponsorships and partnerships that work for you?
