Besides this being a famous song, performed by the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Wilder, it also gives a glimpse into fashion and hospitality.
Because when the curtains [or doors in this case], open, the show begins.
Hospitality and luxury at its best does have some great show elements to it, from the set to the décor to the costumes, topped with Champagne.
The experience, or sometimes fairy tales, happen when all works out.
And this is a result of a great crew working and performing together.
Even when things are not always best in personal life, the show will go on.
And often the marvelous marble, the gold buttons, flowers galore and shiny silverware give us that glamorous feeling - and the action makes us forget the daily afflictions, for both the ‘actors’ and the customers.
Escapism at its best, reveling in luxury, served by professionals.
So, when people tell me that it is hard to find people in hospitality, they forget the story. And when online forums ask what advise we might have for the younger generations, again - tell them the story.
Find empathy, find passion, enjoy a bit of drama (in a good sense) – and there is nothing better than ‘showing up’ in hospitality.
Those with a passion for delighting will have a ball (literally!).
