Are you flying in the highest performance planes? Gulfstream discussed at the Irish Business & General Aviation Association (IBGAA) their legacy fleet and the exciting next generation planes ✈️ in development. Their talented design teams are working to exceed customer expectations with Saftey First principles and reliability at the forefront. We were walked through a detailed test programme ensuring Saftey and performance by the inspirational Eric Holmberg a real Top Gun! A game changing Demo too of the impressive Gulfstream synthetic vision! We saw the systems protecting pilots and passengers from runway overruns with an impressive array of warnings. The plane really is your additional wingman now. We learned what a flutter exciter is! Reducing virbration. An overview of Nose booms. Ice shapes, real icing, climate chambers, NASA testing, Avionics testing, accelerated life testing, high elevation testing, testing the Aircraft at NASA facilities, Navy base testing, high altitude testing, functional and performance testing, FAA testing, and pushing for Perfection and ultimate Saftey! Did you know the lead time on designing a new plane with all the testing with military pilots is 10 years! Interesting to note too there are less contrails if a jet can fly higher. A detailed demonstration of the successes and drive to cut emissions drag reductions, next gen engines, SAF leadership and fuel optimisation. Eyewatering record breaking high altitude performance! Pushing the envelope! ✈️ Let’s go Gulfstream! ✈️ Rotate! #Gulfstream #Performance #Safteyfirst #Testing #Airworthiness #Firstfight #Certification #Businessaviation #Bizav #Topgun #IGBAA #NASA #Pilots #Rotate #FAA #Inspirationalleader

Alaska Airlines Bets On Blended Wing Body Airliner. JetZero a California based aviation company planning to build a Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft has secured funding from Alaska Airlines. With the BWB, the wings and the fuselage provise lift, and could provide a 50% increase in efficiency and 50% decrease in emissions, compared the wing-and-tube design of most aircraft. Its design would be roomier for passengers and can accommodate hydrogen tanks easily. The funding was made through Alaska Star Ventures, the airline's investment arm which hopes to change the future of aviation by supporting technologies that will help it reach #NetZero carbon emissions by 2040. Alaska Airlines participated in JetZero's series A funding last year and was the first airline to do so. JetZero has also partnered with Northrop Grumman Scaled Composites, LLC, United States Air Force and is working with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop this aircraft and get it to market. The Blended Wing Body trend is, as previously posted heating up. Rocketplane Becomes First Civilian Aircraft To Go Supersonic Since Concorde. On November 12, Dawn Aerospace launched the 57th flight of their unmanned Mk II Aurora Rocket Plane achieving a speed of Mach 1.1, and an altitude of 20 km/85,000 ft. "This is over twice as high as commercial aircraft (fly) and marks the first time a civil aircraft has flown supersonic since Concorde." The Aurora will eventually fly to space, an altitude of 100 km, at a speed of Mach 3.5, twice daily. The Aurora is designed to perform "microgravity research, atmospheric science, Earth observation, and testing high speed flight." The goal is to have an operational hypersonic (Mach 5 and above) space plane that fly to space daily. The company, founded in 2017, has staff in New Zealand, the Netherlands and sales staff in the US, also makes satellite propulsion systems for Cubesats, Orbital Transfer Vehicles, and Microsats. The Aurora broke several flight records during it's flight. The supersonic and hypersonic aircraft trends are heating up with Boom Supersonic Astro Mechanica Venus Aerospace Hermeus, all having built either technolgy demonstrators and or scale models. Other contenders are probably in stealth mode. Avionics testing at the edge of control As the boundaries of what is possible are pushed in the aerospace sector, engineers are faced with an intractable problem – how to stay in control. Flight control systems are fundamental to all types of air and space vehicles, so the testing of controls is one of the most important aspects of flight testing. A spacecraft at the Moon or an aircraft traveling at hypersonic speeds of Mach 5+ is of limited use if it cannot be controlled.
