Deciding how to organize your teams is not a one time event. Changing the topology of your teams is not a set-and-forget activity. Avoid the typical big reorg pattern, baked in a “grand plan” philosophy. Instead, approach org design just like you would do as if it was a product. It’s a living organism. Experiment, with clear outcomes in mind. Continuously listen, measure, sense, and adapt. I transformed my client’s idea into a fully-functional MVP in just 14 days. Here are all the tools I used in each stage of the design process: (save for future reference)

Don’t treat your 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙤𝙜 like your 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮. You fill it with random photos and screenshots. That you, nor anyone else ever goes back to. Instead, let it be an 𝙤𝙡𝙙-𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙗𝙪𝙢. You know, the one with the vintage smell, hard and heavy covers. That one has value, feelings and connection. That’s the one you go back to. It brings the group together. It tells the story of where you were. Gives you an idea of where you want to be. And it makes you think. If you want to avoid a course that feels like a board game with missing pieces, confusing rules, and way too many twists, consider backward design. Basically, you start at the END of your course and take intentional steps back to the start.

We improved the timeline editing feature for sprints ✨ Highlights: - The controls are now hidden by default to reduce visual clutter. - The new controls have distinct styling. - ISO calculations (add/subtract/shift weeks) are more accurate. Additional updates: - The sprints are sorted descending order (most recent first). It allows you to easily scroll to see earlier sprints. - Instead of navigating by individual ISO weeks the view now defaults to the last 3 months. You can see up to a whole year of sprints for a comprehensive view. As always, the forecasts update in realtime when you adjust your timeline. From tiny bugs to giant features, Impact is earned. Not given. It starts with the little things: - Commenting on your TL’s design doc. - Implementing their tickets. - Testing their edge cases. Pretty soon, you’ve built trust. Which breeds opportunities. So you take on more ownership. Now it’s: - Your design doc. - Your tickets. - Your edge cases. And you nail those too. So you’re asked to give a demo. The impact is clear. Your story, well told. Their trust in you, growing. And around it goes. Trust → Opportunity → Execution → Impact → Trust. The higher your level, the bigger the scope. But the cycle never ends.
