Join us at the 2025 AIA Arizona Associates Gathering on the afternoon of Friday, April 25, in Phoenix! With a theme of “Resilience,” this annual event produced by and for AIA Arizona Associate members will begin with insightful presentations at the AIA Arizona office and will conclude with a fun tour and reception in the Monroe Street Abbey, led by Maria Salenger, AIA, Senior Associate at Jones Studio. The Monroe Street Abbey is an incredible story of preserving a historic structure, even after it was severely damaged by fire, and the regenerative impact it can have on the downtown environment. The design team was very thoughtful with a light touch in the way they stabilized the existing structure and created surgical insertions to support public programs and events in the old abbey space. The meticulous design preserves the raw character of the historic structure while creating a welcoming garden courtyard to host community celebrations for decades to come. The Abbey renovation in Phoenix, Arizona by Jones Studio received an Honor Award in the Distinguished Architecture category of the 2024 AIA Arizona Design Awards.
