Governance work is not as stuffy as people think it is. Jen is loving this work and continues to be impressed by boards who want to lead by example and grow with their organizations. #governance #bylaws #BoardOfDirectors #leadership
Jake Talley, Sarah Summey, and I had so much fun working together at LAKEWOOD CENTER last week that we didn't take any pictures! The retreat with the Lakewood Board of Directors was truly wonderful. I was able to walk the leadership through the new bylaws, introduce custom materials to help with board development, and met some incredible, dedicated people around the table. Phase 2 starts in 2025 and I'm super excited to spend more time with this talented group (and sneak up on Pamela Lee when she's not looking!).

Recently, our Envu U.S. team partnered with John Deere and Rain Bird Corporation to welcome 50 assistant golf course superintendents from across the U.S. and Canada to historic Pinehurst Resort for the 19th annual Green Start Academy (GSA). The academy aims to grow and amplify the expertise of assistant golf course superintendents and help them acquire crucial knowledge that will elevate their professional trajectory. GSA is dedicated to empowering professionals to realize their potential and thrive in the industry. During the academy, attendees participated in mentor panel discussions with seasoned superintendents and other industry experts to hear tips to solve issues felt across the globe, including: ⛳ Tips on things they wish they knew when they were an assistant golf course superintendent. ⛳ How to build a successful team and cultivate business relationships. ⛳ Ideas to solve turf labor problems through diversity and inclusion of women with Devon Carroll, Ph.D. It wasn’t all business — attendees toured the new United States Golf Association headquarters and the World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst. Our collaboration with John Deere, Rain Bird and the academy's mentors allowed us to offer an exciting opportunity for professional growth and industry leadership. We thank our team, James Nolfo, PMP, Julie (Hines) Groce, Cameron Smith and Devon Carroll, Ph.D. for helping to bring this meaningful event to life alongside our valuable partners. We look forward to witnessing their journey toward becoming future leaders in #golfcourse management.

For a good appreciation sir, if someone does not fulfill his duty properly, he taught him how to discipline him to fulfill his duty. I believe that those who are working here, they will work from their responsibility as long as they work here. Besides, by doing this, everyone who will watch this video will learn from their own place.

This happened this week to my kids when meeting with teachers! #KnowBetter #DoBetter The Misunderstandings of Monolingual Approaches: A Call for Change For too long, many educators have advised bilingual parents to prioritize English at home, believing that it would help their children succeed academically. While often well-intentioned, this advice is not only outdated but can also harm students and families. Research shows that encouraging bilingualism benefits cognitive development, academic achievement, and emotional well-being. When parents are told to focus solely on English, it dismisses the importance of their home language and culture. This not only puts unnecessary pressure on families but also risks alienating children from their linguistic heritage. Bilingualism is an asset, not a barrier, and students who maintain their home language alongside English often outperform their monolingual peers in the long run. Instead of urging parents to prioritize English over their native language, educators should promote additive bilingualism—encouraging students to become fluent in both languages. Building literacy in the home language strengthens English acquisition, fosters confidence, and creates a bridge between school and family life. It’s time to move away from the harmful misconception that English proficiency must come at the expense of other languages. We must empower families to nurture multilingualism and embrace the richness it brings to classrooms and communities. Educators can make the most impact by shifting from a deficit mindset to one that celebrates the diverse linguistic assets students bring to the table.
As always, it was a pleasure to support the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators Region 5 & 6 leaders and members, educators, and supporters at Monday’s mixer.
