Bic announced yesterday the acquisition of Tangle Teezer, an innovative company in the Hair Care market with iconic products! In Brazil, the brand is well-present in physical and digital retailers.

I had an awesome time at #UCW2024 meeting my RunBuggy team in-person and making new connections across the automotive industry! Zooming out from my background in IoT sensors tracking the flow of inventory like equipment across labs 🔬, warehouses and cities 🏙️, now I track the flow of vehicles 🚗 across the US and Canada. Switching over to the world of buying, selling, and transporting vehicles, here were a few of my key takeaways: 1. From exposing payment fraud ⚠️ to optimizing vehicle pricing/advertising spend per VIN based on Google Ads/comparative prices 📈 to identifying damage on vehicles in transit 📷🔍, AI/LLMs can automate manual tasks and de-risk parts of the process. At RunBuggy, we've created an AI-based 🧠 sourcing system to strategically identify transport stress points and facilitate 🔑 transporter assignments based on routes 🗺️, capacity, and performance. 2. Similar to my exp in IoT inventory management: industry-standard, legacy SaaS platforms can be outdated 🕰️ or difficult to use 🤔, so creating easier, intuitive systems with open integrations will lead to quicker adoption and efficiencies along the way. 3. Conferences help teams generate ideas 💡 outside a digital echo chamber 💬: live collaboration/discussions spawn from exposure to new thoughts together. The other missing ingredient? Having a team that is open to change👐: this combination can ignite innovative product features and changes to internal processes that might not have happened otherwise. The future of automotive, logistics, and supply chain is bright, keep building!

HARLEY-DAVIDSON'S ROAD TO NOWHERE This is going to be one of the shortest posts I've ever written. Why? Because the Harley-Davidson Motor Company (HD) has made so many mistakes over the last decade (like hiring Jochen Zeitz as CEO) that turning around the company will be a herculean task. In my opinion, HD must do the following in order to survive: Sell the company to Polaris Inc. Polaris owns the Indian Motorcycle Company. Adding HD is a great fit for Polaris. Polaris CEO Mike Speetzen should pursue the acquisition. If Polaris acquires HD, Mike should be the CEO over the combined companies, or he should hire a new CEO for HD. HD needs to add excitement to the brand. I strongly advise naming Jake Gyllenhaal and Gina Carano as spokespersons for the company and ambassadors for the brand. #retail #management #strategy https://lnkd.in/gyZ2VKGB

What do you get when a luxury car brand launches a campaign with no cars? Jaguar’s latest rebrand. Cue the internet’s collective “What were they thinking?” Their bold new campaign—models, bright clothes, pink deserts, but no vehicles—sparked backlash, with critics calling it “woke” and disconnected from Jaguar’s iconic engineering legacy. (Even Elon Musk chimed in, because of course he did.) Here’s the twist: Jaguar stood their ground. They explained their goal: ditch the car clichés and reframe Jaguar as a high-end, all-electric innovator. Love it or roast it, there are lessons here for all of us under the marketing umbrella: 1️⃣ People don’t love change. They’d probably hate it if we moved their stapler. So a drastic rebrand? Maybe slightly. Did they do a test drive with a closed audience? No, they didn’t. 2️⃣ Messaging is everything. If your audience doesn’t “get it,” neither will your metrics. 3️⃣ Backlash isn’t the end. Sometimes, it’s just step one in getting to know what your buyers are thinking. Jaguar changed the logo because sales were down since 2017. A drastic rebrand failed. Bold? Misstep? Genius? You decide. One thing’s for sure: this campaign proves that even in marketing, sometimes you need to take the wheel (ahem) and steer straight into the storm. This is definitely a risky approach for a iconic brand. Kind of like Domino’s pizza calling out their failures in their re-brand attempt. Or Liquid Death water’s approach. Will be interesting to see if this strategy works with this consumer segment.
