This 5:40 minute video provides a powerful and thoughtful articulation of the complex relationship BIPOC individuals must negotiate with their Mother Country, the United States. This self-guided training tool, begins with an outline of caregiving tasks that support relational health and ego development, while considering, are these necessary and nurturing ‘mothering’ activities provided to the BIPOC Community? Part two of this training tool, uses an Attachment framework to consider a BIPOC individual’s level of relational connection or rejection from their Mother Country. Dr. Stroud narrates to compelling imagery which honors the diversity of this nation. The 2024 report underscores the critical need for systemic change to address the ongoing stress and mental health challenges faced by education staff. While there are small signs of improvement in some areas, persistent stress, rising behavioral issues, and decreasing external support make it clear that urgent action is needed. The eighth Teacher Wellbeing Index has dropped. Here's what it tells us: - Pupil and parents behaviour is challenging and affecting staff mental health - Staff believe a lot of this is driven by unmet social, emotional and material needs - Public services aren't able to provide staff with the right support and this is affecting their ability to do their job well - Stress and burn out persists, with schools leaders especially at risk. We need a staff retention strategy that takes this picture seriously. We can't breakdown barriers to opportunity for children and young people with a burned out workforce.
