💡 Top Diversity Tip: Acknowledge that language can sometimes reflect hidden stereotypes and conventions. By recognising this, we can encourage everyone to be more mindful about their words while fostering an environment where people aren’t ostracised for saying the ‘wrong’ thing. Remember, mistakes are a valuable part of the learning process—and can lead to some of the most important lessons in life. #Diversity #EDI #LearningandDevelopment #ProfessionalDevelopment

We have a mountain of evidence that DEI trainings don't work. Why? Because demanding people change their attitudes in order to change their behavior is back-assward. Fascinating overview on the interventions that do work: mentoring programs, self-managed teams, and diversity taskforces https://lnkd.in/g8JPUhMU

If you are a DEI professional, it may seem like you are constantly having to make a case for #DEI. We can all agree that the resistance to DEI work will be a constant. Despite all the barriers, we know the problem is not the opposite sides but how do we bring the opposite sides to think and act together. Now more than ever, we need to turn monologues, debates and endless discussions into true dialogue. And your role as a facilitator of dialogue is critical, it goes beyond DEI work. It goes all the way into helping businesses identify what they stand for and what they want to be? It starts with you. Are you the facilitator your organization needs today and in the future? If you want to learn the structures, language and mindset of facilitating dialogue like a pro, check out my upcoming course: Dialogue Mastery: The Facilitation Skills Masterclass Series. The wonderful Judith Fitzsimons has kindly written a blog post for The Diversity Trust Blog. Judith's insightful piece explores an embodied approach to EDI. 💡 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/etACcwrh #EmboidiedEDI #Embodiment #EDI #EDEI #BlogPost
To quote Resmaa Menakem “There’s a way out of this mess, and it requires each of us to begin with our own body.” The Diversity Trust have kindly indulged my over-excitement about systemic coaching and especially the power and potential of embodiment approaches when it comes to equity, diversity and belonging. When they asked me to write a blog piece on the subject I jumped at the chance! https://lnkd.in/egec9x8Z

#StillWeRise: In Community – The role of youth social action in creating positive change in places. Hannah, a member of our Youth Advisory Board and the Civic Leadership Programme, shared her thoughts and experiences on youth social action and how she has managed to make an impact in the community. "My social action journey started in high school when I noticed that the Deaf students in my school were marginalised and isolated. After understanding their situation, I realised they face many barriers in mainstream schools because most people don't know how to communicate with them. To raise Deaf awareness and remove this barrier, we started the British Sign Language Club together. This gave them a sense of involvement in our school community. Young people can contribute by noticing problems and injustices, understanding different perspectives, and using their privileges, like skills or time, to help others. It is also important to recognise that no matter how small our actions are, it still makes a difference." #YouthLed #YoungLeaders #iwillweek

As an educational consultant, it baffles me how greed can overshadow genuine motives and efforts to deliver excellence. This troubling mindset often tarnishes reputations and proves counterproductive, yet many overlook its impact. For example, individuals frequently seek to exploit those who turn to them for bespoke educational consulting. The DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) matrix highlights the importance of these pillars in our work. A few years ago, I embraced empathy after realizing that many people lack sincerity in their intentions. Since then, I’ve become more altruistic and considerate, and I haven’t looked back. May we all find light in our hearts. Happy weekend! #Empathy #EducationalConsulting #Greed #DEI #Altruism #Inclusion #Authenticity #CommunitySupport #Positivity

This #WisdomWednesday, we are featuring a quote that was cited during today's Cohort 2 graduation celebration. Søren Kierkegaard, Danish existentialist philosopher, theologian, and cultural critic, reminds us that, while we can learn from the past, the act of living requires us to embrace the unknown and keep moving forward. Use what you've learned from past experience to inform your present decisions and carve out a better future. #aspireleadersprogram #firstgen #youngleaders #youth #socialimpact #leadershipdevelopment #professionaldevelopment
