Fellow Leaders! Day 1 at #GLS24 was amazing! Speaker after speaker brought great ideas and inspiration. Craig Groeschel kicked it off with a talk on obsession. Greatness is found in the extreme. I perpetually rate myself on a scale of 1 to 10. There’s “10”…and everything else. At my last job, if I didn’t get an “Exceeds” on every category in my annual review I considered it a failure. “Meets” has never been good enough for me. 🤓 It’s how I coach little league. It’s how I lead at NorCalCCIM. It’s how I do Toastmasters International. It’s how I approach my client relationships. It’s how I love my wife and kids. BUT — I can’t obsess about everything. There are tradeoffs. My obsession for client solutions means my internal reports go unfinished. 😬 THIS offset reveals the power of leadership: Leaders cast vision, garner alignment, and resource execution. Here’s how great leaders build an extreme, obsessed team: Leaders paint pictures that people can envision and obsess after (purpose/end/telos). “I have a dream…” Leaders gather a mix of people—each with their own obsessions—and line them up to AMPLIFY their impact. Look up the “domino growth effect.” Leaders resource their people so teams have what they need to be their full, authentic, obsessive selves in pursuit of their shared obsession (shared vision). SO — I have to ask you… what vision are you obsessed with? What do you love to the extreme? Have you aligned your people’s obsessions? Have you resourced them, or empowered them to resource themselves? #GLS24 #ccim #toastmasters

To make a meaningful impact, you must focus. Busy leaders don’t change the world—focused leaders do. Prioritize what truly matters, and be obsessed with your goals.

"Society is conditioning you to conformity, and conformity leads to mediocrity." "Average never changed the world." These are just a few of the nuggets I took away from Craig Groeschel at last week's Global Leadership Summit. If you want to be encouraged in your leadership, check out this short clip from last week. Groeschel says that "obsession" gets a bad rap, but the reality is, if you don't obsess about something, you'll never be great at anything. His point is that "normal" isn't working. Normal is quiet quitting. A bad attitude. A critical spirit. Greatness is born in the extremes. And as leaders, we SHOULD obsess is three critical areas: Focus Relentlessly Care Deeply Commit Completely 👉 Focus: Leaders speak of "busy" - and it creates an illusion of importance. Busy leaders don't change the world; focused leaders do. ❤️ Care: You can't lead people if you don't love people. Appreciate more than you should. 🤝 Commit: Apathy makes excuses. Obsession finds a way. I'm obsessed with empowering a team at Borshoff that can move mountains - not just for our clients but for the world, doing meaningful work. What are you obsessed with? #GLS24
