20 new HR metrics – Forbes Day Eight of our review of Forbes Human Resources Council HR metrics for ‘today’s work world’. https://lnkd.in/eCiCGGyj 10. Employee Engagement "Look at employee engagement and well-being. This metric assesses how connected and supported employees feel and their overall satisfaction with work-life integration. By tracking this, we can proactively address factors that influence retention, performance and company culture, ensuring our workforce is productive, agile, and rewarded." DWB - The difficulties with Employee Well-being measures are covered in #7 (Employee Well-Being Score). Engagement surveys of varying value are already circulated through many organisations. Performance could be affected by the relevant manager, while Culture overall stems very much from the top, so if responsive action is not taken on these key \(and tricky) points, then the surveys achieve nothing. My rating: 1/5 This is nothing particularly new; the real question is do current methods really make a difference, and would this, assuming one could do it, make things better? 12. Skills Agility Index "Every company should have a skills agility index. The goal of the SA index is to measure an organization's and employees' ability to adapt to new skills required by market changes and technological advancement. The index would rate internal mobility, the average time to proficiency for new skills learned, employee participation rates in new skill development programs and certifications achieved. " DWB - Presumably this would also apply to the C-suite, who during the pandemic and beyond have proved to be anything but agile in adapting to the changed environment. Here is where it is going to have to start if you want this to permeate the culture, And wouldn’t this be contained with greater relevance in the performance, development need identification, need fulfilment and behaviour monitoring cycle? My rating: 2/5 I have doubts about the capture of this information without having to devote excessive resources to do so and have difficulty in envisaging this capturing the attention of the Board. Right now there are existing measures that handle this effectively.
