🚧 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 🌐 As I continue to meet talented CAD and BIM professionals from across South Asia, South America, and Europe while vetting them for FormWork, one challenge stands out: the high cost of design software relative to local compensation. Consider this: - Architects and engineers in South America and South Asia often earn around $1,500/month, a figure that's above average in their regions. - An annual Revit license costs $2,910/year, and a Navisworks Manage license costs $2,740/year. - Together, these licenses represent 4 months of salary in a traditional workplace—an unsustainable expense for many. If companies like Autodesk truly wanted to empower these professionals, they might allow innovative licensing solutions, like leasing or sharing licenses across time zones. 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀—𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻-𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Unfortunately, Autodesk’s current T&Cs block such possibilities, prioritizing revenue over accessibility. At FormWork, we believe in a better way. We’re advocating for the adoption of cloud-based design tools like Hypar, Rayon.design and Snaptrude. These platforms offer: - Affordable alternatives for design, - Real-time collaboration, and - Tools tailored for a connected, global workforce. We envision a future where design teams seamlessly collaborate with freelance experts skilled in these tools, breaking down barriers of cost and geography. We can build a world where talent, not tools, defines what’s possible. #FormWorkmarketplace #freelance #CAD #BIM #VDC #Architecture

AN INSIGHT INTO AEC SOFTWARE ACROSS THE WORLD In Europe, the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry utilizes a range of software tools designed for different phases of construction. Here are some commonly used AEC software tools across Europe, listed in no particular order: #Autodesk Revit, #Autodesk AutoCAD, #Trimble SketchUp , #Graphisoft Archicad , Bentley Systems, #Tekla Structures , Nemetschek Group (BlueBeam Revu), Rhino (Rhinoceros), Solibri Model Checker, Blender BIM, BricsCad (CAD and BIM efficient), AproPlan, #Hypar, Swapp. These are some of the commonly used AEC software tools in Europe. The choice of software depends on project needs, user preferences, and industry standards. While there are many AEC software solutions developed by international companies, several notable ones are developed in Asia. Here are a few examples, in no particular order: DataBuild, 3D Max, BuildSupply, GstarCAD, BuildEasy. These are some AEC software tools commonly used in Asia, but there are others available. South Africa has become home to several noteworthy companies producing AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) software solutions tailored to the construction industry in Africa. Some examples of AEC software developed in South Africa are : RIB Software BuildSmart, @Quantity Surveyor Suite (QSS), @Cubit, WinQS, and Buildaid Online. However, the country's software industry is constantly evolving, and there may be other local firms developing innovative solutions for the construction sector. Despite the widespread use of AEC software, the technology ecosystem in the AEC industry remains largely unexplored and underutilized. With the recent advancements in AI, the industry is witnessing significant changes and innovations. In my upcoming post, I will be discussing software that is commonly used by QS professionals and how these tools can improve productivity, save costs, and increase efficiency. I feel there is a need for young Chaps in the industry to join in the rising trend Please note that this post is solely for educational purposes and is not a paid advertisement.

The benefits of 3D design progression within the Practice... Developing design proposals in three dimensions has more recently become an integral aspect of the development of a project through the RIBA Stages. As a practice, we have decided to adopt Autodesk Revit Architecture as a tool to support design development, assisting in how we design, visualise, and manage projects from inception to completion. As a Building Information Modelling (BIM) platform, Revit helps create detailed 3D models that integrate all aspects of a building — from architectural design to structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Here are some examples of how we believe that the software supports the overall design process: Parametric Modelling: We use Revit's parametric tools to ensure that any changes made to a design are automatically reflected across the model, saving time and keeping everything consistent. Collaboration: Revit allows the team to work on the same model simultaneously, ensuring real-time collaboration and minimising the risk of errors. 3D Visualisation: The software's 3D capabilities help create realistic models that not only enhance presentations to clients but also improve communication with contractors and consultants. Automated Documentation: Revit automatically updates all drawings and schedules as the design evolves, improving efficiency and ensuring everything aligns with the latest model. Sustainability: The software can undertake energy analysis and improve overall building performance, helping design more energy-efficient and sustainable buildings. By using Revit, we hope to continue to streamline the design process, improve accuracy, and create more sustainable, well-coordinated projects. As technology continues to evolve, we look forward to seeing how Revit will continue to support us with our future work. #studio80six #Architecture #Revit #BIM #DesignProcess #Collaboration #Sustainability #Innovation

What is Revit Work-Sharing Concept? and why is work-sharing very Important? Work-sharing is a collaborative approach within Autodesk Revit, a popular Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. It allows multiple team members (architects, engineers, designers) to work simultaneously on the same project model. Each team member has their local copy of the model, and changes are synchronized with a central model. work-sharing enhances teamwork, accelerates design, and ensures accuracy in BIM projects. The goal of the video is to create a simulation if two users are working in the same shared model by following the below steps: 1.I Created The Central File 2.I Opened 2 local files from the central files Each local file has its own user. For example, the first user is called (1)Hussein, and the second user is called (2)Eid. 3.I assigned to the first user (Hussein) to be an owner for lighting workset 4.I assigned to the second user (Eid) to be an owner for Power workset 5.User-2 (Eid) will try to edit on an element that assiged to a workset which owned by User-1(Hussein). This will send a request to User-1(Hussein) to Accept/Deny the editing. 6. The request will accepted by the User-1(Hussein). 7. User-2(Eid) will edit on the selected element then sync the changes with the central model Therefore, after synchronization, user 2 (Eid )cannot edit element as in the first time, and he loses the element’s borrowing and ownership of the element is returned again to the first user(Hussein) 8. I Created a new workset called (CCTV)by User-1(Hussein) then sync. 9. User-2(Eid) after make sync then the new workset (CCTV) will be shown by user-(Eid) #BIM #REVIT #Work_sharing_Concept
