Third Element Aviation GmbH’s Post

💪   Further tests were carried out in the #WaterRescueDrones project in perfect northern German weather. 🌧️   The project uses a customized NXP Auriol as a flight platform and is intended to support water rescue operations. For example, scenarios are to be realized in which the drone takes off automatically, searches for missing persons and supports rescuers in rescue operations by localizing the persons to be rescued, among other things. 🛟   And, as has already been tested here under real conditions, it can do this even in adverse weather conditions! 💪   #ThirdElementAviation #3EA #TheFutureIsAirborne #Drone #UAV #UAS #Research #Innovation

On 24th and 25th of Jan 2025 the #WaterRescueDrones consortio got the chance to test our hardware the first time under real life conditions. We were invited to a two days exercise with german gov and live rescue organizations near Heide, Schleswig-Holstein. Our task was to support the organizations searching for "missing" people while we got enough time to do our own flight and system tests. For us this was a complete success since all systems are working and drone and camera proved being reliable and well fitted for the future planned tasks even under harsh weather condition like wind speeds up to 15m/s and rain. 11 flights were conducted with ~5hr overall flight time.   our Third Element Aviation GmbH Auriol NXP Drone is equipped with - NXP MR-VMU-RT1176 flight control (i.MX RT1176) running #PX4 1.15.2 - NavQ+ (NXP i.MX8Mp, SE051) companion computer running Ubuntu based Linux with ROS2 - MR-T1ETH8 T1 ethernet switch (NXP SJA1110) - FETtec ESC 60Apro motor control (NXP S32K146) - consider it GmbH OBU LTE and D2X modem (NXP i.MX8M, SAF5400) Payload camera system mounted SIYI Technology ZT-30 Camera with 4K RGB 30x optical zoom, 2k RGB wide angle, 640x512 IR and 1,2km laser rangefinder NavQ+ (i.MX8Mp, SE051) companion computer running Ubuntu based Linux for camera control, video streaming server into our project VPN as well as AI based object classification   Groundcontrol Van NXP Layerscape Bluebox1 based server acting as video streaming sever to the client PC's (distribution of videos from drone) as well as doing video recording.
