Course details
Explore the beauty and diversity of the Spanish language as you learn how to navigate real-life conversations. This course—the sixth in a seven-part series from The Great Courses—covers the essentials of reflexive verbs, past actions, and commands in Spanish. Reflexive verbs are those for which the subject and the object of the action are the same (as in, “I wash myself” in English). Learn how these verbs function in Spanish, as well as commonly used examples you can apply on your own. Along the way, discover the many uses of the verbs “ser” and “estar,” the two Spanish verbs signifying “to be.”
