- Every step along the way of the sales pipeline is important. Getting leads, qualifying prospects, cultivating opportunities and then making the formal presentation. Honestly though, I can pretty much guarantee that when we review our work, we all direct our eyes to the right side of the pipeline, where we see sales closed. We're all human, and know that our success or disappointment with our work revolves around the question, did you close the sale? So, it's understandable that we look at the final results first and then go back to the starting point to review the complete pipeline. In our example, let's say that we have closed five sales. As I've trained sales people, I've always been of the school of thought that you have to be thorough with your research and painstakingly complete with your planning and preparation.
