- [Instructor] As with other complex applications, there is often more than one way to accomplish what we want to accomplish in Power BI, so I'd like to show you some alternatives to measures so that you know that they exist so that someone doesn't stroll by and say, "Oh, you could quickly do this in a different way," and you wouldn't know if that's a better way to do it or not because not everything we do should be done with a measure, but a lot of work that we wish to do is best done that way. Let's look now at an alternative to measures, and those are calculated columns. I'd like to do some calculations in the sales table. Here I am, and one of the things that I would like to do is to take the sales amount, subtract the total cost, and the result of that is actually going to give me my gross profit.
